Flat Glass

Ferro is a leading supplier of lead-free enamels for spandrel glass, used in office buildings and other commercial facilities. It was the first to develop and introduce lead-free enamels for this market. Over the last decade almost every glass manufacturer in the U.S. and Europe has shifted to lead-free coatings for spandrels, a majority of which is supplied by Ferro.

Our lead-free coatings have been applied to spandrel glass in many of the world's leading commercial structures including the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the award winning Transportation Center in Los Angeles, the Blue Cross Building in Boston, the Sears Tower in Chicago, and many others.

Our products are also used in the furniture and white goods' glasses.

SATINS (ETCH)
Etches are available in frost, translucent and various colors to produce sand blasted effects and satin etch finishes.

METALLIC COLORS
Metallic enamels are available to create unique effects and designs using our one-coat system or two-coat system with an overcoat or clear coat as a protective coating. Both metallic systems are available in leaded and lead-free versions.

COLLECTION 140
The glass enamels of product range 140 with the exception of 19-4011 (special colour white, very opaque) are intermixable in all proportions. However, it is recommended that any mixtures are test fired before committing them to production.

Firing range: 620-660 °C (glass temp.)
                     650-710 °C (furnace temp.)

Coll. 140 colors: Lead free, Cadmium free, Lithium free

Product range 140 forms the basis of a new generation of glass enamels. The colours are mainly used in the architectural industry for the decoration of spandrel panels on the exterior as well as for furniture glass e.g. glass doors, domestic appliance glass for inside use.

The weathering resistance of the decorated and fired panels is mainly influenced by the enviroment. Regarding rain intensity and air pollution the glass as well glass enamels can change appearance within a few months caused by aggressive substances like SO2, NOx and dust particles (loss of gloss of the surface). The evalution of weathering resistance of ceramic glass enamels is a complex matter which cannot be quantified generally. The reason for this is that any ceramic glass system, exactly as uncoated floatglass, can be affected more or less by enviromenrtal influences.
